The fire ban here forced me to do ribs on my gasser tonight. There was no smoke ring and the flavor was off. This got me thinking that I need a pellet pooper and I was wondering how the smoke rings were on a pooper. Please post some pics of what a pooper can do....(I really can’t believe I am even considering one but you gotta do what you can to keep smoking right?!?)

No, just considering getting a pellet smoker so I can continue to smoke meat while we are in stage 2 fire bans.
is a stage 2 fire ban the same thing as a "no burn day"? I live in Arizona and we have air quality issues during certain times of the year. When those pop up, they declare "no burn days". No wood burning fireplaces or burning stuff in your yard.

If a pellet smoker is a side step around "no burn days" that would be handy to know

So you’re picking up a Green Mtn or ordering a RecTec......?

Leaning towards the Rec Tec Bull or stampede but it will take a few months to round up the funds. Might start with a stampede and then if it gets use, upgrade to a yoder on down the road. Thanks for your help!

Basically but this is not for air quality it is for fire prevention because everything here is so dry. In stage 2 you can not have any fires, no smoking out in the open, no welding, no shooting guns, etc. In my county propane and pellet grills are allowed but charcoal or wood smokers are not in stage 2. You would have to check with your county to see if you could use a pellet grill during no burn days. I would think not because it is producing smoke which is what they are trying to prevent. However I have a wood burning stove and burn on no burn days here because it is EPA approved to do so.

I would offer a vote for RecTec. I got one to see if I liked pellet smokers, and I have discovered that I do. I'm always considering upgrades / more smokers, but so far the Rec Tec does everything that I want, so I may add a Hunsaker drum instead of a Mak or Yoder.

Good luck.
