Default Standard Pan Depth for Catering Sides?

What size pan depth is most common for sides like Mac and Cheese or BBQ Beans?

I know the standard size hotel pans are 20 3/4" x 12 3/4" (Full Size) and 10 1/2" x 12 3/4" (Half Size), but they come in different depths, 6" , 4", and 2 1/2". I know it wouldn't be the 6", but not sure if the 4" or 2 1/2" depth is more common for sides. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

2 1/2" is standard and about 50 4oz servings. I use the 4" deep foil pans but all of my recipes would fit in a 2 1/2". I just like the extra rim height for carrying so they don't spill over as easily.
