Default To Those Competing This Weekend - and Beyond

I have not been able to compete since 2011, due to illness. I cannot tell you how much I miss it. I really had the bug, even though I didn't compete that often. As you compete, I hope you can take a moment to realize how awesome it is to be able to do so - regardless if it is a backyard or pro contest, sanctioned, or not, it is a pretty darn great hobby.

I pray that you will have safe travels to and from the contest, as well as being safe on site. I pray that you will make, happy memories in the midst of the competition and friendships. Most of all, I pray you have a successful cook and get to hear your name called at least once - and hopefully last!

God bless the Brethren.. Let the others, "Fear the Pig!"

Dan, Thank you.

For me, it is quality family time. I only started competing because it was something that my son, who was 15 at the time wanted us to do. Since then we've done man y comps, and also several charity cooks together.

Now entering his final year of college, he will be living in a house just off of campus, and asked me about bring a small grill back with him. So, of course I picked one up for him.

Hard not to imagine not BBQing. I certain that you will once again be back to BBQing, Dan. I look forward to that day.

We're putting on our judges hats this weekend, but will be back out soon. Hope to see you out soon as well! Prayers sent for it, but also just for your recovery in general!
