Default B&B sparks more than fireworks

I’ve heard tons of good comments re: B&B lump. So I bought some. That stuff sparks more that fireworks and bench grinders. I guess it doesn’t really hurt anything and I like it’s flavor and smell. The sparking is just wierd. Do y’all just ignore the sparks or is there a workaround?

The small bits sure do put on a show, but the larger bits (especially when I can get a bag that's not been beat to all hell) don't do that.

I don't know of a workaround... just cooked some more bird with the B&B Oak tonight.

It's generally good stuff.

Thanks for the heads up! I avoid sparks due to so many burn bans around this area.

I started a chimney of B&B on my kettle which sits next to my covered flattop. I was worried the sparks would burn little holes in the cover. You’re right us Okies need to be careful. That stuff is a grass fire looking to happen.

I have been using B&B oak lump for years, some bags spark but not all, most don't and like was said it seems the smaller pieces are worse than the big chunks.

Okay. Maybe I’ll try another bag or two before passing judgement on it. I do like the favor, it’s readily available, and it’s priced right. Just shocked by the intensity of the sparks.

I just use 2 oz of 91% rubbing alcohol and get no sparking.

I light all my cookers with a weed burner and use B&B regularly. It sparks like crazy unless I heat it up a bit by "sweeping" the flame across the fuel load for a minute or two. It'll still pop a bit but not enough to create the kind of sparks that have been discussed.
