What is your holy trinity of bbq? I can really cook the heck out of butts and ribs but I want a 3rd signature protein. So I ask, what is YOUR holy trinity - the best 3 things you cook?

brisket ribs and my "best chicken you've ever had" recipe

honorable mention goes to abts and pulled beef from chuck. they both seem to be a hit every time

Since you are looking to add a 3rd protein I would suggest you try chicken since it is cheap. Won't cost much to practice and it isn't a terribly long cook. I like cutting those jokers in half instead of spatchcocking.

Chicken breasts if I want it to be or not. Cheap and can be cut into strips, cubed, or pulled to fit into quick easy meals during the work week.

Picnic shoulder , chicken thighs, st louis ribs.

I like shoulders because they cook more evenly than butts. I like chicken thighs because I pull my chicken (insert joke here). And st louis ribs cook more evenly than baby backs and don't have the junk meat of full spares.

All that being said, I am particularly fond on anything on sale!

Brisket, pork ribs and sausage is, by definition, the BBQ holy trinity.
