I got one at Wal mart $15 but it does not work the way I think one should ,some time it don't register, then it starts so I don't trust it, maybe I'm doing some thing wrong?

Don't waste your money. None of them work worth a darn for an length of time.

i picked up a maverick dual probe remote thermometer set from amazon for about $40 2-3 years ago. It has worked great so far. The temp probes are off by about 5 degrees, which hasn't been a big deal yet.

I use to use them never work very good , I always stay up when I cook so it no big deal. after several cook you will know what the heat going to be. So save your money and buy more meat.
