Anyone remember the A&W on 48th. st. in Lincoln that served Pizza Burgers???


I tried to make some tonight (burger mozzarella and pizza sauce but something seemed to be lacking......


Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Have you tried any of these seasonings?
oregano
basil
dried onion flakes
garlic powder
thyme
fennel
paprika
ground black pepper

When I was a younger man the local Burger Chef had a pizza burger that was a 2 or 3 times a week situation.
If I remember it was a burger patty with tomato sauce and a slice of moz cheese covered in Italian panko and deep fried. At one time Schwans home delivery had a real good one also.

Growing up every diner in NY/LI had a pizza burger on the menu. It was just a burger covered in sauce with melted mozzarella, here's a punched up version from a NY burger joint.

I worked in a FF restaurant as a teen...we sold a pizza burger...but it was a breaded cutlet with mozz cheese that was deep fried. I never ate one...but made a lot of em.
