Arrow BBQ Brethren "By Brethren for Brethren" Throwdown

Our new category is...

"By Brethren for Brethren"

Logo from image search.

...as chosen by R2Egg2Q, the winner of the Chinese New Year Throwdown!

To explain the idea for this one, I am just going to take the explanation from R2Egg2Q directly...

Quote:
...entries need to use and showcase something (or multiple items) made by Brethren? There's a lot of great products out there made by Brethren (and Sistren) and I think it'd be nice to give them a little more exposure by cooking up some great food with their products.

I did a quick tally and came up with a list that I'm sure isn't complete but enough to see that there's plenty of choices:

We have the Brethren Sales & Ventures area: http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=37

and off the top of my head these:

Cookers

-Spicewine
-Klose

Rubs

-Plowboys
-The Rub Co
-3 Eyz
-Simply Marvelous
-Todd’s Dirt
-Mister Bob’s
-Spicewine Ironworks

Injections

-Kosmo’s Q
-Butcher BBQ

Sauces

-Big Butz BBQ
-Spicewine Ironworks

Woods

-Green Leaf BBQ Wine Infused Oak

Coffee

-Roastin’ Ronnies

Accessories

-thirdeye
-ribolator
-frogmats
Click here to read the rules for the BBQ Brethren Throwdown...

You may submit entries that are cooked from Friday 2/18 through Sunday 2/27.

Entry pictures must be submitted by Midnight Central US Time on Sunday night 2/27.

By submitting entry photos to this Throwdown thread you are agreeing that you have read and understand the Throwdown Rules.

The voting will begin Monday 2/28 after I submit the "Vote" thread and will run through Friday 3/4. All votes will be public.

Don't forget, you can still enter the Lamb Throwdown until Sunday night 2/20 by midnight Central time.

Our next category will be decided by the winner of the Food You Eat With Your Hands Throwdown!

Best of luck and even better eats to all!

FINALLY I get to participate in a Throwdown again!

First off, what about Blues Hog sauces? Isn't he a Brethren?

Here's a thread I posted last night when I started a cook of a 12 lb picnic butt, rubbed with Simply Marvelous Cherry Rub....
http://www.bbq-brethren.com/forum/sh...d.php?t=100987

It's still ongoing (in the cooler right now) but later when I pull the meat and make up a plate or sammie, I'll post more pron in that thread.

So far, here's a couple of highlites.....

MAN it's nice to be smokin' again.....been too long!

Am I actually the first entry?

OH....another thing......this may sound crazy, but I don't see in the rules where there's anything to prohibit someone from making duplicate entries.....??? I plan on smoking a couple of chickens and perhaps a ham tomorrow with some Plowboy's. I figure while I'm in, I may as well be ALL in. Cool?

Looking good Wampus! Per Grand Poohbah's post about helping out Blues Hog in that poll, it looks like they are Brethren. Looks like Burnt Finger rubs & sauces are also Brethren.

This is a normal TD so I'm pretty sure only one entry is allowed. I'm sure Chris will chime in if I have this wrong.

You are first!

Wow,... Great first entry.

I think I'm going to have Alan cook me up some of those turkey legs and FedEx them to me so that I can enter them.

Rule 5. Is that your entry shot? If so, then yes, you are first! If not...then someone could still beat you to it.

Default Serendipity

I just finished most of today's smoke when I saw the throw down.
Made Chicken thighs peeled the skin off and scrapped the excess fat then rubbed it down with Simply Marvelous Cherry. Put the skin back on

Smoked in the drum with some hickory chunks at 250, For the MOINKS I used a homemade rub. Then I finished both off with Big Butz Cranberry, pretty much my go to sauce for poultry.
The skin was nice bite through, meat was not as moist as hoped, I didn't have to wipe my chin overall pleased.
Use the unbiten pic for entry
