Congrats Bubba on the GC and to Nate for the RGC. Special congrats to Big Mike for a nice showing after losing his smoker on the way to the comp.
 
This contest was a lot of fun. The boys came and helped a bit on Friday, then went to a hotel and got to swim Friday and Saturday. Jeff, from Midnight Smokers, was cool enough to let the boys hang out in his camper and they are begging me to get one. I'm trying to explain the relative benefits of them staying at hotels with mom and letting Dad get an Extreme BBQ trailer. We'll see :)

Bubba and Sabrina Knapp brought a big pop can shaped cooler and let the boys get drinks from it. That was like 6 and 5 year old Nirvana.

Using the FEC made all the difference. Life was easy and I got to spend a lot of time with the family. I wish I would have used it at the two comps in KC earlier this year!!

Anyway, it was a great way to celebrate Father's Day weekend and start my vacation. I wish I could try again next week in M'town!!!

Good to see everyone. Looks like my next comp is in Waterloo with Holy and Oly's.
 
Nice job Nate!!! Congrats to all that walked!!! Was a fun contest....I just gotta stay away from that darn Dirty Pig.....he makes my head hurt the next day!!
 
I got my first chicken call (10th) and my first brisket call (9th)! What a way to celebrate a birthday and Father's Day! It was good to see everyone and it was a tough field for sure. The pot luck on Friday night was awesome, especially the crab rangoon. Ask Dirty Pig if they were any good. :becky:

I think that is Pat's strategy, if he can't cook better he brings his competition down to his level. Did you see any polar bears running around? I heard there has been a sighting or two there before.
