Is it really that easy??
I talked to the Medina County Health Department today. I explained that I want to start a BBQ Catering Biz. I told them that I am in the process of gathering equipment for my trailer build. The more than helpful lady tells me that they are going to send out an itemized list of what has to be in the trailer. After I submit a drawing of the trailer I can build it and then they come out to my location and inspect. If the inspection passes, they will give me a license for that is good all over Ohio for catering, festivals, fairs etc......
Next up I have to trademark my biz name, file for tax ID number and start getting quotes for my insurance........ Am I missing anything here?? |

You are doing it the right way get the Health Department involved before starting anything. The problems people have is building or buying then contacting the HD.
Good luck, Hope it all goes as smoothly through the entire process.

Thanks everyone. This just seems tooooo simple...(I tried to get a couple of sauces commercially produced in the past and this is a cake walk compared to that...lol) I am really surprised at how helpful the county health department is!

LOL I like BBQ Bubba's answer simply " Nope, Good Luck!" I am about 80% throught the process and I second what he says. Not that it is terrible but it is a lot of work. Good Luck

I'm in clemont county, I ask my HD and they didn't give me anything like this. They sent me an email and said as long as it's in the guidelines or something to that affect. Thanks for posting this.
Good Luck.

oh no problem....I am drawing out the way I want the trailer to be set up and so far it is looking great (on paper) Next I have to find a "base" for the trailer. I am going to look at a 8'X25' car hauler this weekend. It does need some repair but that's no problem. The guy wants $650 for it. So if I beat him down a lil bit I'd be happy. Then I can start construction as soon as the Health Department looks at my drawings (since I am building from scratch)
