Default Gloves for handling your meat.

Last week I stopped by the resturant suppy store to see what I needed before the practice cook and I picked up a box of XL gloves. Sams only goes to large as do most Pharmacies. I hate fighting to get the smaller ones on but on Sunday night my hands were red & itchy with bumps all over them. Where do you guys get your larger gloves and what have you found works best.

Thanks Dan

Red and itchy? Sounds like you may be allergic to latex. If thats the case you can use nitrile gloves. I pick them up by the box at Lowes, in the paint dept. It says "one size fits all". they work great for me, but then my hand size is about average.

If you have a Gordon Food Service near you they have vinyl gloves lightly dusted in cornstarch powder and there large size runs a little big and it fits me fine and I usually use an XL.

Sams also carries XL Nitrile gloves, I have several boxes at all time, I too suffer from a latex senisitivy and that rash and itching is a beotch............Holding a cold beer helps with the itching, just one more reason to have a cold brew!

Actually there are more and more health care workers who use gloves everyday that are becoming more and more allergic. If they were lightly dusted it also could be the dust itself.

The increase in latex allergy cases has been correlated with prolonged exposure to latex products, primarily through the use of latex gloves

While we are talking about gloves, how about a suggestion on what gloves to wear for handling hot meat. (It sounds like fodder for the Woodpile, but at least i didn't say "while pulling....")

They're only ribbed for "your" pleasure if you turn them inside out.

I purchased a pair of Raichlen's White gloves off of Amazon.
Supposedly good to 600*. I hate them!
While they do provide a good grip, they stain real bad
and look like horrible. They are also too big, but there was no choice of sizes.
Look for a Black pair and I have also seen red ones too.
