Default Southerner Wants to Learn How To Smoke

Mornin', Y'all.
Name here is Ron, and I live just outside a small town in South Mississippi.
(I arrived here thru the Grace of the Almighty!)
I have been a casual griller for many years, but only now an I taking the smoker plunge.
I had been considering an Oklahoma Joe's Longhorn combo, but, as I have a grill I have loved for many years (Charbroil Masterflame 8000 w/grillmate infrared-like heat plate) I am now thinking that the Bandera is the way to go.
I feared that the Combo was a compromise smoker, and the Bandera has much more area and a larger firebox.
So, I came here in order to read the "Bandera 101" document for instructions as to how to turn the Bandera into a first-rate smokin' machine.
I look forward to tips and suggestions on improving the equipment as well as recipes and smoking "How To" comments.

Thanks for having me on board!

Welcome! As I understand it, the Bandera can be good if you put in the work. Also, some places will have it on sale for Black Friday.
