When I took my kid fishing about that age...he did catch a small catfish..when asked if he wanted to eat it...no...I said you like fish...him....yeh fish sticks...so we cut his in to strips and they disappeared.

Try sweet corn, bread balls for bait. If you catch bluegill or carp - cut it for catfish bait ( if legal in your state)..........

Luckily I have corn because I left the worms in my 5 gallon bucket and I'm guessing a local park rhinoceros came by while we were sleeping and ate them.......

Use a vegetable or fish grilling plate on the grill. Dip fillets in butter/Seasoning mixture as noted above. Place fillets on grill. Do not turn, only move around so they don't stick and brush mixture on top occasionally. Works great on our farm raised catfish

Thanks for all the help and tips folks. Days got busy and with little attention span we didn't fish again.
