If you want to sear steaks and chop, a cast iron grate is great
Also, Thirdeye's Third Hand grate lifter is essential. (Actually it's the Three Finger for the small Egg. The ash removal tool is nice to have as well. Also, I use a MAPP gas torch for lighting my lump. TJV has some nice accessories including the Woo2 Small raised grid.

The cast iron grate is the bomb for steaks!

Thirdeye's third hand is a must! CI grate gets my vote as well!

They do offer a plate setter now for the small. A Woo ring to lift the grate might help in versatility. With my eggs the most used item is the Thirdhand grate lifter. It's way better than BGE lifter. The CI grate puts a mean sear on burgers and steaks. If you can swing it, go for a bigger egg. A medium or large will be way more versatile. Even if you pass on a nest for now. That being said, I still want to add a small to my 3 eggs.

I'll second the vote for tjv's woo ring. It would be the first accessory to get. Really adds to the eggs versatility.

A Lodge 5 qt Dutch Oven fits perfectly in a Small BGE.
