Default Fired up my old BBQ pit today

It's been several years. I made this Smokey Joe Gold pit back in spring of 2013. It was the first pit I ever cooked in. It holds temp extremely well (sealed well) and saves a lot on fuel. Cooking an entire pork butt in it today.

Is it the 14" weber with the tamale pot riser... the "mini wsm"? I pull mine out every now and again...I have almost gifted it several times-but it still has a place in my garage.

It held temp very steadily at 280F for this butt :) Love the vents on the side of the Smokey Joe Gold.

Yeah I was trying to gift it to my brother for his camping before. For some weird reason he turned it down.. it's perfect for camping heh.

Crazy! I actually bought a PBJ before I knew of the Smokey Joe tamale pot thing for bringing to lake house rentals and what not. Since I have an SJ lying around I totally would have done the tamale pot had I heard of it.

Pork butt looks great btw!

I like the Shack Attack sauce since it isn't sweet. We often make pulled pork soft tacos with the bbq'd butt. Flour tortilla, pork butt, white cheddar, salsa verde. If we want a pulled pork sandwich, we mix in a little sweet baby ray with the saucy shack attack pork butt.. and throw in bun.. it's delicsh.

Also it not being sweet is handy for when we fry leftovers in then scramble ins ome eggs and top with cheese. Rub was simple: salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika.

I'm looking at a big gray minus sign too. Wishing I could see the good stuff. Makes me want to break out the tamale pot again!
