Default Grill Brush?

Is there one grill brush that stands out? One that won’t shed steel bristles? One that actually gets the grill clean?

Define "clean." I have a Weber grill brush that works great for my grill cleaning method: Rub the grill with the brush then put it over the fire, rotating it a bit at a time and rubbing it some more as the residue from previous cooks liquifies and falls or gets brushed off. That's it. I keep my smoker grates shiny clean, but not the grill.

I seam to be doing fine with the $5 dollar Home Depot brushes, never had any steal bristles left behind.

Try a wood scraper like this: https://smile.amazon.com/Great-Scrap...s%2A=0&ie=UTF8

The more you use it, the more it conforms to the grates of your grill and the better it works in the space between the grates.

I bought the wood style one and I absolutely love it. The only draw back is it becomes grill specific so it's hard to use on different grills. That said I'd buy it again in a heart beat

Keep in mind the whole steel brush thing is a very unusual complication. But if it's your or your child's intestines perforated by a tiny metallic needle you might think twice of trusting the odds. We have all gotten away with using these kind of brushes. And probably because we all followed the wire brush by wiping down the grate with wet paper towels which likely removed the danger. But even so I have used anything but a wire brush since these reports surfaced and have yet to find something which stands out as the best.

Go online and get some grill stones, like used in restaurants. I have some, they clean down to the bone. When i use a brush, I wipe well with paper towels after..no bristles.

I just bought a wood scraper that has a metal scraper on the other side. I use it to knock off the big "chunks" and don't sweat the small stuff. The fire/heat burns off any bad stuff. The only time I've had a shiney grill is the day I brought it home.

I use wooden scrapers and putty knives if it's tough. For light cleaning, I farm the job out.
