1 gal. Water cold
1/2cup salt
1/2 cup brown sugar
palmfull of whatever rub you plan on using

Stir well and brine worked great on my last turkey breast did mine at 300 for 3 1/2 hours came out perfect and juicy. Pulled off pit at 162 and wrapped and let it rest 1 hour then sliced.

Ask your wife how to cook a bird in her electric/Gas box I bet it is 325 until it is 165 in the breast & 175 in the thigh. ( a Smoker is a wood fired oven) as soon as you can wrap your nugget around that little tid bit you can ask Betty Crocker about anthing to do with cooking in a BBQ pit.

Blu's Bird Brine

1 gal water
1/2 cup pickle salt or regular table salt
1/2 cup Honey
juice from 2 lemons & 2 Limes
2 tbl distilled vinegar
2 tbl Hot peppa sauce

Brine 1 hr per lb rinse thoroughly.

Nope just truthful and introducing the world to COMMON SENSE. If you like rubbery turkey skin cook it at 225 if you want it bite thruogh cook it like your wife does @ 325. Like I said its a wood fired oven what ever Ms. Betty Crocker recommends is where you need to be cooking at. Would you bake an Apple Pie at 225?? Or do like Betty start out at 450 for 20 min then turn down the temp to 350 for 45 min.

Turkey meat doesn't benefit from LnS. 325 is a great temp.
