I’m still 2 hours from home - I’ll measure grates n smoker tomorrow

I don’t believe they used any sealant but I don’t know for sure

Good question. Does Humphrey's or other builders that rivet use sealer? I bet ebijack can answer this...

The bottom rack is way too hot on a lot of GF cookers. I like the design of the extra wide baffle/deflector. It should help keep the bottom rack somewhat usable. At least it does on my T&K.

I’d ask a Shirley to teach them what a weld looks like, that first pic looks like what I welded in FFA in lower Bama in the 80s, though to be fair I ain’t touched a welder since then. And yes I’m drinking in and expect to get hammered for being a d###, and I reserve the right to change my mind about that top weld when I sober up. Lol

There is sealer on Humphrey's. But only at the intake and exhaust at the outer skin.
As far as welds, Those are as good/bad as my Humphrey's welds. Besides missing welds I found.
Just because the welds are not pretty does not mean they are not strong enough. Besides, the welds on smokers (I'm not talking trailer smokers) really only need to hold things together and seal. There is no shear or deflection or stress or vibration effect. That tests a welds ability to be as strong or stronger than the parent metal. If that makes sense.
Use the bottom grate to hold a drip pan. Easier clean up. Unless you needed to do a full load of protein.
I'd buy one if I was in the market for a GF.

Guess you've Never seen an Old Country Smoker or it's Price Tag or understand the Cost and Weight and Other restraints Big Stores like Academy, Home Depot Etc.. put on a Manufacturer to put a Product in it's Stores. I've Asked Him about QC and He Says Academy Won't Pay enough - Time is Money. They make them as Best they can for What Academy will pay. Everyone Raised their Prices Last year with Steel Price increases and Tarriffs - except Old Country. I've Never had an Old Country Weld Break - I'm sure some Have but I'll Just Booger Weld it Back myself..........

Luckily for Me - I’ve been Too Lazy to drill a hole and weld in a bung for a second thermometer on Fantasia. So I’ve had a extra long stem Teltru in the garage for a year and a half................2 of Us laid her on her Back and slide Her off the Tailgate - she's Too Heavy for 2 Guys to Pick Up - maybe 3-4 Guys could pick Her up and put Her in a Pickup, 2 Buff Basterds might could - but Not Me.........I was Hoping she'd be somewhat portable.........take her to Oklahoma.....

OH Ya - Holds about 12 -14 lbs Charcoal possibly 15 lbs- I had 2 partial Bags so Hard to say Exact and I Mix wood chunks in the Chute..........

The new Girl hasn’t told me her name yet but soon..........we call her FNG for Now

I'ma runnin’ Her for a couple hours and then toss in some biscuits - Doors Not Latched in 1st Pic........

Nice that the grates are wider then deeper. Much easier to handle food on the grates.

I Am thinking of welding a Trailer Hitch mount to the Bottom - 2 guys might could pick her up to slide into Hitch if I add handles......I'd put some 1/4" plate on bottom front to back about 12-18-24" Wide dead center and then Weld Long Stinger to plate that goes from back to front underneath - We'll See........ might not be enough clearance for Legs n casters - have to do some measuring......
