had a friend in from out of town, so I cooked up a pot of chili to go with the homebrew he was there to sample.
Fired up the WGA with some RO briqs and a cherry split

Seasoned up a chuckie with S&P and some paprika, and threw it on there

meanwhile, got some dried chiles in some boiling water for a bath

blended them up

Got the rest of the players chopped up and going in the pot with some bacon grease

pulled the chuckie off after about 3 hours, and it looked a little like this (somehow missed a shot of the whole thing  )

cubed that up, and into the DO for a nice long slow simmer until it looked like this:

beverage of choice, hefe weizen:

was some good chili, and a nice time spent with a good friend :thumb:

Oh yeah!
Usually I put a bit of dark chocolate in my chili...works great.
that sounds pretty good--I love dark chocolate. I'm guessing it's a pretty small amount?

Nice pot of beef taco soup. Wheat beer is one of my favorites
call it what you like, it was good eatin'. I did keep it a good bit more mild than I prefer--my friend can't handle much in the way of heat :tsk:
Looks like great chili. Did you serve it with rice? Cornbread? Neither?
served up with a skillet of blue cornbread...sorry, no pic on that

That hefe looks great...nicely done all the way around. I see 3 peppers there, is that all you used? How was the heat wit that?

I think I had 3 fresh peppers, and about 5 dried? It was pretty mild, I would have gone a good bit hotter, but like I said, my friend isn't much for heat :tsk:

Matt that looks delicious!! Great way to spend the day too... :thumb:
Thanks Jeanie--it was a pretty good time...at least until the next morning when the kids were up at the crack of dawn  I used your corn bread recipe--came out great as always :thumb:

What dried chillies did you use? Looks like guajillo and,...
guajillo and chipotle (I think)
