Do I need GrillGrates?

I could not care less about grill marks but they are great for griddling and preventing flareups.

"preventing flareups." This...

I've got a set, bought into the "higher" heat factor, didn't find that it worked on my gasser which won't run hot,.. but it doesnt hurt anything, I run mine flat side up, and it IS easy to clean, but no, you don't NEED one, :-D

I have to wonder what "Grill Grates" originally were for?
It would be cost prohibitive to set out and tool up just to make an iffy Bar-B-Que accessory. IMHO

Sigh.... I think my cast iron grates that are OEM for my gasser have held up the best so far.
I have plenty of half burned out SS grates (not to mention the ones trashed).
