You're All Invited to The 2020 Texas BBQ Brethren Spring Bash on 3-21-2020

I guess you avoided the point that the incubation period is 14 days. That means, people who feel or show no signs of the covid-19, could have , and spread it. But, by all means, have fun.

Is this gathering going to attract hundreds of people? Are people flying from overseas for this get together? Are you going to be there? I don't really understand your concern about this.

Come on down Brother. This is not about anything other than a Great Bash. All the folks down here have the gift of Common Sense. No one will come if they are feeling sick. We all have that Respect for eachother. Many of us do not let the media dictate our life. We just Live it. That's why it's called The BBQ Brethren. :thumb:

So grab your camp chairs, get your cooler out and get ready to have a great time at the Bash!!
I'll be there between 7:00 am 8:00 am to get my Shirley setup.
I'll bring the Cabo!
I hope the liquor store has more stock than the grocery stores do!

who's bringing the CoronaVirus........? or Now known as Corbid19............

Let's call it what it really is ... Wuhan. :mad2:

Not Italian, not a conspiracy theory from the US D.O.D., etc.!

https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/13/asia/china-coronavirus-us-lijian-zhao-intl-hnk/index.html

Personally, I doubt most of us are at real risk for any serious outcomes as long as we don't fall into one of the prominent risk groups.

My sister has what appears to be the flu and isn't freaking out about Wuhan / Coronavirus. Yes, I'm keeping my distance but, I'm also not panic buying antibacterial Kleenex and every bottle of bleach in site either.

Common sense and sensible precautions go a long way to preventing the spread. Me, I'm not letting panic or scare tactics frighten me away from the BASH! But then again, if I get sick from the flu or Wuhan, a few days of feeling crummy in the overall grand scheme of things isn't the worst thing to happen to me in recent history.

...

It's been three year's since the last one I attended, and my GSD puppy I brought last time is now a 92 pound monster with an appreciation for the finer points of BBQ.

They sure are a lot of fun and mine brought me great joy!

All of my travel/conferences for the next two months as of today have been cancelled, so I may need to come hang out with you fine folks!!!

Hmmm, now who brought those amazing breakfast pastries that year?
Let me think for a moment....

I don't live in, or near Texas, but i strongly advise anyone to avoid large gatherings for at least a 30 days. I am sure my opinion means nothing to those involved, but life is more important then pleasure. Keep in mind, people will travel from all parts of the world, and incubation period is 14 days with no signs of infection.

I appreciate your concern for everyone's health and safety!

So far, mortality rates versus the common flu are not different enough based on available RELIABLE data to cause me greater concern than I had for the flu which kills thousands every year. Being a relatively healthy middle-aged male in rural East Texas means my personal risk level is relatively low as I don't have people coming and going from my property routinely.

If you are not in one of the affected high-risk groups, I think the MEDIA's sensationalism and unrelenting focus is blowing things out of proportion. When someone finds all the hand sanitizer gone from their local store, all of sudden the two or three bottles at home must not be enough so they buy more causing more shortages. With the absolutely crazy line at the grocery stores here in my local rural East Texas area, you would think an impending famine was coming. :deadhorse::violin:

How many DOZEN EGGS does an elderly couple need? Should you really freak out because the lady ahead of you got the last two boxes of ANTIBACTERIAL KLEENEX at the grocery store for almost $9 a box!

People should make an informed choice with reasonable factual data and statistics. Panic buying and scare tactics are bad. If people where hoarding batteries, generators, and gas cans you would almost think it was Y2K again in some areas! :drama:

For the lady in line ahead of me at the grocery store, spraying your cartons of eggs, kleenex boxes, and steel cans of oven cleaner, I wish you well ... :drama: And yes, you can boil tap water AND bottled water!?!? :drama: Really, boiling bottled water for drinking!

I speak strictly for me but I've had 63 trips around the sun. This current stuff has not changed my day to day in any way. I've seen much worse. As long as my Compadres are willing I'll be there. Looking forward to it! :thumb:

If things go sideways and they don't station troops at the state line, I'd drive to Shreveport to BBQ and BS with you if the Bash were to get canceled. :thumb:

I had mine at the fall bash, but flying would require a checked bag for the firearm and extra $$$. So I'll rely on the Texas Brethren for any extra protection that may be required.

I can't escort you from the airport but, there will be several of us that can help keep others safe from evildoers of different sorts at the Bash.

Yes, there are apparently a lot of UNDIAGNOSED people with Wuhan that apparently are showing no or very minor symptoms.

Relative risk is what I consider to be most important.
  • Will I die on the drive due to text messaging?
  • Will I die due to being robbed for Toilet Paper?
  • Will I die due to robbery in South Dallas?
  • etc.

Wuhan and the Flue are risks but, what in life is truly risk-free?

who's bringing the CoronaVirus........?

I brought the Malort before. I suppose I can stop at the liquor store and pick up some nasty Coronas. Probably stop at the grocery store so we can have some Lime disease as well. :heh:

I'm sure there will be plenty of pork being cooked up, so everyone can take the Swine Flu home with them. Anyone cooking up some Chooks? We can have some avian influenza too!

I will be self medicating with bourbon. Maybe mix in a Margarita every now & then so I don't get the scurvy.

Odd observation: barely able to hear the audio at normal speaker setting. Even at 100% unable to hear some words. Anyone else have that problem? Doesn't seem to be the case with other YouTube videos.

Jalopeno Cheese Kolaches from Slovacek's in West, Texas on the way to Belton or Lockhart!
Those are great but Bacchus2b brought some amazing breakfast pastries to the Spring Bash a few years ago!!
