Hi-temp white?

Anyone see/use/know of a good hi temp white paint that will stand up to UDS heats?

I have an idea, I realize it will get dirty and all of that good stuff...... just got something in the works.

if this dude with the drums EVER gets a hold of me - I had planned to be cooking instead im on here with all you goofs! Looking at food pron.
 
I saw hi temp white paint at the local auto parts store. That's where I would check.
 
Yeah I have seen it, been around it, just wondering if it will hold up. I have options to powdercoat, but trying to avoid that if i can.
 
What sort of heat are you planing on?

Powdercoat comesin varying temp ranges and we have one place here in Sacramento that does 1800 degree powder coat and that is what I would look for if going that route although it is pricy and you will probably only be able to get flat black. Anything less will just melt off and create a farkin' headache for you.
 
Im just looking for a white that will hold up on the outside of my UDS.
 
Do you have an Ace hardware around you? I have seen many different colors of hi-temp paint there.

I saw some hi temp white and almond spray paint in Lowes the other day, $4.58 a can.
 
Take a look at JD's UDS, The same thing happened to one of mine and I used Hi-Temp BBQ black.

The bottom third of the drums gonna get the most heat, don't leave the lid off and this won't happen.
I have had great success with the Dupli-Color Engine enamel even though its rated @600*

Stove-Brite makes an enamel Hi-Temp paint, I've only seen it in Stove shops and its @ $14+ a can
 
Hey guys, iv'e done several cooks on my Sparty smoker painted with cheap off the rack paint including a high temp chicken cook....no problems!!
Save the money to get more drums!!:wink:
 
the barrel smokers we make have a firebrick option,which most use. We also pre-burn and season all smokers that leave here, customer option of which wood taste they start with. With firebrick and patio stone on bottom, most auto paints will work. If no bricks, Duplicolor auto high heat, many colors, will work fine. Remember it is the paint on the inside that you want to be sure is gone, good luck.
 
My walmart sells hi-temp white and a gold/bronze color. I think the bronze color would be a cool bbq trim color. Most bbqs are black because it absorbs heat white will reflect the suns heat and may require more fuel use. just my $.02 worth.
