55gal drum (free)
1" ball valve (donated from a friend)
1" close nipple
(2)3/4"close nipples w/caps
(4)1"x1/4" bolts w/nuts
(4)3/4 conduit nuts
(2)1" conduit nuts

The parts cost me $14 but I didn't use the conduit nuts, so after I take em back $9 total.

Reusing coal grate/basket and ash catcher.
Decided to stop on the way home for a new cooking grate $20.

I'm in it for $30. I couldn't be more excited. I think I'm leaving work early to go get smoking.

My Mrs. bought 2 racks of ribs for my maiden smoke. We really wanted a brisket but couldn't find a whole one.
Got some mesquite lump to make it all happen.
Thanks

now go cook some world class Q. enjoy the new cooker.

UDS. inexpensive but AWESOME

So I got home and had to stop my smoking plan to be a dad. After all things settled down I decided that it was too late to start ribs.

So I scrubbed it out with a scotch pad and water. Gave it a dry run with some lump. Let get going for a bit and then capped off boh of the 3/4 . Temp steadied out. Let it cruise for a while. Then closed all vents to choke it out. All seemed well. In the am will start the ribs.

I'll go will some mesquite lump and I have hickory chips left over but I think I may try to get some cherry or apple before I start. Couple more pictures.
