UPDATE!!! Just spoke with MAK Grills and we are currently sitting at 19 grills sold through this Brethren group buy deal. Lots of calls/interest coming in and it seems that we are going to move past 20 any minute now. I was just able to broker a new incentive (lol) to the already awesome group buy deal MAK has provided to all who have joined the family this past week.

So here it is...

Knowing that the group buy deal comes to an end tomorrow (3/12) at 5pm (PST)... if we can hit 25 grills sold, everyone who bought through this deal will be given a $75 store credit. If we can hit 30 grills sold, everyone who bought through this deal will be given a $100 store credit.

There currently seems to be plenty of interest to make these goals very realistic. Soooooo, now is the time if you are on the fence. Just a handful more and the deal gets even sweeter :)

That's awesome wish I was a participant, probably going to end up getting a front shelf for the 1 Star, oh well just have to take solace in the fact I've been enjoying the MAK for almost 2yrs now.

Think when the Mini MAK is released we can find enough interested parties to drum up another group bye.

A Mini MAK group buy would be amazing, eh?!?! We shall see what MAK has to say when the time comes. That said, I wouldn’t mind seeing a MAK 3 Star group buy deal. Large family problems... lol.

pjtexas1 03-11-2020 12:50 PM

YSR,
Do you get to use the Mak before the remodel is done? Doesn't seem fair that you get your new toy before she gets hers. [emoji23]

If we miss out on the store credit are we gonna blame Sako?

Someone should at least send him a PM and let him know. :heh:

4ever3 03-11-2020 01:13 PM

We need a MAK Appreciation and I say Robb is the one to start it, so here’s what I propose.

Robb, the next time you take pics of a cook, start a new thread “MAKnation” or MAK Appreciation” or whatever else someone comes up with then we can all post pics of cooks, plates food, questions, blah blah blah. Not saying someone can’t post a MAK thread outside of it though.

Thoughts?

Suggestions?

I second this idea.

I've been planning to start a thread on my initial MAK cooks but I think it'd be more fun to be part of a group thread.

Been thinking pretty much along the same lines as what you just spelled out. Great smoke filled minds... lol. Seriously, MAK Grills has been fantastic and has made it possible for some GREAT guys (plus pjtexas...lol) to join the amazing MAK family through this deal they have blessed the Brethren with! I am totally onboard w/ a new MAK thread that would not only highlight the cooker itself, but be a repository for many of the new and incoming MAK posts as guys begin to receive/assemble/cook on their new MAK pellet grills :)

How does a title of ‘MAK talk/pics/thoughts/reviews and appreciation thread’ sound? All encompassing... lol.

4ever3 03-11-2020 02:10 PM

Whatever title you come up with, whenever your ready, do it!

CONGRATS and another warm welcome to the MAK family! Sooo, what did you go with and what accessories did you choose? Inquiring minds... :)

Just the MAK 2 and an upper rack. I'm still on the fence on another rack and the searing racks. I grill a fair amount. Will decide after I use it a bit.

The 2 Star in and of itself is a complete package. All the rest is gravy. That said, if you like to grill I have a hunch you would love the sear grates. One step at a time though, totally get it :-)

I’ve got at least two more tests to do maybe three, once they’re all done hopefully the MAKnation (or whatever the title) will be up and running and I’ll post all tests, settings, and thoughts in there.

rwalters 03-11-2020 06:56 PM

Official word is that we are currently sitting at 22 new MAK owners as a result of this group buy. Tomorrow is the last day and I know that there are guys I have been chatting with that are still on the fence. Lots of remaining interest in this deal. 24 hours left... :)

Remember, only 3 more for an additional $75 in store credit... and 8 more for $100 in store credit. Who else is ready to join the MAK family?

Welcome to MAK Grills :)

This has been pretty crazy to not only follow, but be a part of. One week ago I had no intentions of buying any sort of pellet anything. Placed my MAK order on Monday in true Brethren style and couldn't be more excited! Let's get a few more to unlock more prizes!

Pretty distinct, huh? I love seeing these apologist biscuit test videos where there are very clear hot spots / sides and the narrator will be like, "So, yeah, pretty even."

Thanks. I've driven past the factory since they opened. Always wanted one, but timing wasn't right until now. Got a 2* with upper shelf, sear grate, door and wifi. Prior to this my main smoker was a WSM 18 for the last 10 years. I'm looking forward to something that takes a little less babysitting.

I pretty much started out on a Weber Performer then graduated to the WSM 18.5" gateway drug of smokers.

Congrats on the 2⭐️

Love it! Have owned a few WSM’s in my day. Great smokers. That said, welcome to the WONDERFUL world of pellet cooking :)

Looks factory to me, assuming it’s stable enough to hold whatever load you plan to set on it. The rivets or bolts/nuts that protrude through the side look at home with the rest :thumb:

The shelf holes aligned perfectly the factory holes. I used the factory hardware to screw the shelf down. I put some small felt between the shelf and the cooker so it wouldn't scratch just in case I decided to take it off. I think the small shelf is rated at 30 or 40 pounds and the big one at 50. Only the top 2 holes lined up but it should hold a brisket.
