On the Shirley Clock
So two days ago I sent in my deposit to get on the list for my first stick burner, I have zero issues with the wait to be able to buy a cooker of this quality by a family that does business like they do. I had an email from Tyler the night my quote hit the website, and my check was in the mail the next day, and last night I got the first cost estimate from him. Seriously awesome.
Here is the build: 24x60 Patio Straight Back Elevated Cabinet w 3rd grate Ash/charcoal pan in main chamber Elevated Warmer (debating this still) Third Grate in the warmer Both Dampers Stainless removable shelf Stainless Folding Shelf on the warmer with paper towel holder Firebox ash pan 3 probe inserts Wagon Wheel upgrade Golf cart tire upgrade Pull handle and a hitch for my lawn tractor to pull it around the house 4 tie down loops on the legs to strap it to my trailer for comps and tailgating I can't even wait, and been like everyone else, rewatching all of the videos and trying not to change much. But as many have already told me "that's a good start" |
seems like a trailer version might be a better option if you can foresee yourself towing it at all (sounds like you are). even with the wagon wheel setup remember this thing is still gonna weigh in about 1500-2000lbs, pulling that bad dog up on the trailer will probably require a winch.
straight back elevated 60" cabinet is gonna have HUGE capacity, should be sweet!!! |
congrats and your build looks awesome .

The modified trailer makes moving in and out of a garage or shed very easy and another benefit is being able to tow home and not rent a trailer (Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel pulls it easily and my 24x55 weighs 1980 lbs - stopped at first CAT scales on the way home and weighed it ) The cost difference is nominal and it is nice if ever want to tow anywhere. I am in que again for another Shirley and will get another trailer model for above reasons. Congratulations and welcome to the Shirley Family.

Congrats!!! I got on the list back in October with a 20 month wait. What are they up to now?
|
There was a one year wait when I put in my deposit in January '17. Tyler just emailed me to pin down my specs for the build. This will be the hard part of the wait.

Nice cooker you have setup. That's a mighty big patio model. Should be able to get a ton of meat in there. An extra rack slider or 2 will give you options to increase/decrease cooking space. Will also let you add a 4th rack down the road.
