Finally got time to build the bird barrel. All hail the king.

Picked up the drum from ebijack for a smokin deal, thanks, tom

I have a weber roto ring but it doesn't fit.

Roto basket from menards, like 7 bucks

Building the charcoal basket.

I had a ring made of expanded metal lying around and place a weber charcoal grate on top of it.

Ok now to mod the weber ring to the drum.

That should do it.
What a long build, im famished.
Lets rock and roll. Ribs, seasoned and in the basket.

They've spinnning.

Have you ever had 99 minute ribs?

Stay tuned for the results...

Love the southern engineering! Looks like some K&N oil on there maybe? I use olive oil

You'll have some fun with that rig!

You ain't cutting a feed the fire hole/door.?. Is that one of them manual labor rotisseries?

Finished pron

99 minute ribs. Would have been faster but i let the fire simmer down the last half hour.

Texture was outstanding

Just a light coat of oil and a bit of 2 different commercials rubs, one even contained sugar.

Light smoke. Could've used more. Trial and error i guess.

They were very good ribs except for one thing. The free ribs my dad gave me, that i used for this cook tasted old...off...something was wrong. The meat tasted like it was reheated in a microwave. Who knows where he got it.

All in all not a bad first step into the "700 club"

I wanna see some CSR's, yard bird pieces, stuffed burgers, brats etc... in that basket!

hope you are able to recover from that build in a reasonable amount of time.

I like it. Fast simple and it works. One thing, I do miss, Manards, don't have them down here. Much better than the orange guys.
