What to expect at a Competition Class?

I have signed up for a certain BBQ Class that is taking place near Detroit the first weekend of November.

What can I expect?
I have no doubt that I will learn more than I think I will as I don't know what I don't know.

What should I bring?
Other than note taking implements and studying aids.

Do classes typically run the whole night just like a comp?

What questions would you ask?

Sorry for all the ultranewb questions and thanks for your time and answers.

This class i believe is a Sat - Sun class, so i am sure it will end sometime Sat evening and then resume again early Sun morning.

Other than paper and pen i wouldn't think you would need anything else.

Hopefully, I will see you there.

Take detailed notes. Most classes give a lot of information, and it may come out of order from the way you would use it. Just write it all down and go back and make sense of it all afterwards. If the class allows it, take pictures of all steps of the process.

pictures are good if allowed!

Make friends with a person or two at the class and exchange contact info. When you get home, offer to trade notes and pictures to see if there is anything that you missed that someone else noticed, it is good for them as well.

I've heard at Dr. BBQ's classes, you can expect free hookers and weed!

The class I was in a few years ago was an all niight cook with I Smell Smoke @ the BBQ Guru. They showed you how to prepare the food, then you did it and cooked all night. People brought their gear including cookers. I was able to borrow one. It was a Great experience
