Welcome to the 2021 BBQ Brethren Bash on the Bayou planning thread!!
As most of you know me, it's never too early to start planning a Bash.
Our host is Happy Hapgood!!
He is working on the date and location.
So stay tuned!! :mrgreen:

If you are interested is going to the Bash on the Bayou hit the signup list as a maybe or are going.
Happy Hapgood is needing to know some kind of head count as he is working on dates at the end of May 2021!
I mean really, we don't want to be in the Bayou in the heat of the Summer months now do we? :mrgreen:

I'm currently working on 2 possible locations. Should know more tomorrow. The date as of now will be May 29th. Memorial Day weekend. Updates soon.

If that date sticks, I will be on vacation, so I will be going in the definitely will attend instead of the maybe list.

I signed up as a Maybe. Current circumstances don't allow me to commit much more than "sure hope to be there", unfortunately.

Once I get back to work, I'll have to look into what's going on at work around that time.

Does Louisiana have Malort?

Adult beverages are allowed. Please use cover. BYOB. Several picnic tables. Bring chairs. Parking for pits in parking lot close by. The area is to the right of main building when facing it.

Lots of hotels. For any riverboat gamblers, Boats and hotels on either side of Red River.

I'm in, the wife may come for some of the gambling.

Shelly and I are in!!
Hotel reservations are done at the Best Western Plus Airport Inn & Suites.
We are driving in on Friday and heading back Sunday morning.

Restroom facilities? Port-a-johns? AC power?

Only 11 hours! ROAD TRIP!

No AC but indoor restrooms and a Port-A-John by the boat ramp.

My wife goes a couple of times a year. She's won the most on slots at Eldorado.

Just don't wear that red hat with the big "G" on the front. :becky:

Now to figure out what to cook.
I'm thinking I'll cook a breakfast fattie, a naked fattie, some jalapeño and cheddar sausages, maple sausage links and Shelly may have a couple of items also.
Maybe some ribs like I did at the Texas Spring Bash, baby backs this time.

Since we're talking about representing college teams, I might wear my Chicago Bears jersey. :becky:

Aww Chit! But y'all got our coach and Earned it. :tsk: Except in 2019. We and Clemson are the only ones that can really compete...every now and then. No arguing with Success.

It looks like my best buds Richard and Charlotte, from Lewisville AR, will be joining us at the Bash on the Bayou!! I hope he is going to cook some of his famous ABT's!! :mrgreen:

Ribs - Baby Back & Spares
Pulled pork for sliders
Boudin
Red beans and Rice
Several types of Sausage
Many sides and dessert.
ABTs
Fatties
Stuffed Dates
Pork Lion


That's just what I can think of. If anyone else can think of anything please list it. :clap2:

Now would be a good time to let Mike know if you are going.

Dust off those camp chairs.
Clean up your cooler.
Start gathering up your beverages.
Work on your game plan on what to bring and or cook.
Dig out that special tee shirt, hat or secret socks!

You guys need to ask for a day or so break in the rain here in Prosper so I can hookup to Shirley in the back yard and pull her around to the front!! As my side yard is soaked!!! :mrgreen:

Had to move myself from Maybe to Nope. Looks like it's going to be a great bash! Hopefully I'll make it next year...

Plan is to use my SIL's Polaris side by side as my Honda rider won't have traction.

It has 2x4, 4x4 or 1x turf mode.
Sun is out all day so 6 hour countdown has started!!

On our way. In Monroe, LA tonight. ABTs, dates, mud cake, Conecuh sausage in the cooler. Also bringing a 10x10 canopy. Be in Shreveport tomorrow.
