Madrone Wood - Northwest Help

Any of you North Westerner's familiar with this wood? Can you (have you ever) cooked with it?

I have used it for fire wood burns real hot, I have never seen anyone use it to cook with.

I think I've seen it used for jewelry boxes, but never cooked on.
