Hi,

I just got an electric Masterbuilt 40 Electric Digital Smokehouse for Christmas and am lookin forward to learning how to use it to make great smoked ribs and pulled pork. I know electric is not as good as using a wood, gas, or charcoal smoker but it is what I have. I used to have a Brinkman All-in-One gas smoker but it was a pain to use. I had to constantly manually adjust the gas valve as sun, outside temperature, and wind conditions changed during the smoke. I also had to lift the whole assembly (including the meat) off the burner stand to add wood from time to time. The MES should be easier to use. I used to work in Memphis, TN and loved the Q in that area. I was a regular at Corky's there. I want to learn to make Q that is close to what I had in Memphis, if that is possible.

Welcome aboard fellow Pleasanton brethren! I have an electric smoker that is pretty much retired now but it was a great starting point into smoking! From there you become addicted and progress into other types of cookers like most of the brethren.

Another California welcome. Don't worry about the electric smoker, as long as you're cooking something it's all good in here. But be forewarned.... after hanging around here a while you'll be burning sticks in a Lang before summer is over. ;)

Greetings from SoCal! Trust me, you will soon be making bbq better than Corky's - I like Corky's (and I really like Central) but what you'll end up making at home will be better than what you'll be getting in most restaurants - and you'll get a lot of tips on how to do that right here - enjoy!
