I'm pulling the trigger and would like to know which accessories that I need and maybe some that would be nice.

I'm going to get a platesetter and iron grill for sure, what else should I grab?

Thanks!

Thirdeye's Thirdhand grate lifter. I use it more than anything.

Ooooh, I like that one :thumb:

My recommendation is get the EGGmates (folding shelves), they are there no matter where you roll your EGG

Since you are turning into a full blown EggHead, you are gonna need a pair of these:

BGE Salt and Pepper Shakers :becky:

You'll need a nest or a table. I started out with a table and have switched to the nest and folding shelves so I could bring it to comps.

In my opinion:

Need
- Platesetter
- Nest if you want to be able to move it. Table if you don't need to move it.
- That Thirdhand Lifter looks nice since it looks to be fine to lift cast iron and the stock porcelain coated grid
- good glove or gloves for handling a hot platesetter
- ash tool & pan

Nice to have (assuming you went with the XL Egg and want to use it for some higher heat cooks)
- the Triangle Hanger from the ceramic grill store to get your steaks down closer to the lump for searing
- cast iron grid for a large to set down on top of the triangle hanger
- half moon porcelain coated grid or cast iron for cooking further away from the lump

Here's what my set up looks like for this:

I find it nice to have multiple tiers so you can cook a different temps at the same time.

- extra tier of some sort for large cooks (might be worth waiting to see what the ceramic grill store comes up with - they're working on a new setup). The extra tier by BGE is decent in my opinion but it would be nice to have an adjustable height or at least a little more clearance over the lower grid. As you can see in this pic, its a tight fit for a 9 lb brisket:

Of course you might not need all the extra space since you have other cookers.

- lump reducing ring or the Ang-L brackets (both from the ceramic grill store) for smaller cooks

If you're not careful, you can get really carried away with all of the accessories out there!

Maybe I am crazy, but I dont use the ash tool. I bought a twenty dollar shop vac from wally world, and that is what I use to get the ash out. just my .02 Cheers.

Don't forget one of Thirdeye's wiggle rods. I use it every time I cook along with his grate lifter.

I tried the shop vac, but it kept blowing ash all over my patio. Did you get a super fine filter or something on it?

I got the woo ring and 13 in pizza stone instead of the plate setter, the ash tool, the thirdhand, cast iron grate and a MAPP gas torch for starting it. I also bought a pair of heavy rubber gloves for pulling/grabbing meat, and heavy welding gloves for moving hot stuff around. Good luck, it has been a blast!
