Any body here ever heard of making a smok'er out of an old 4 drawer metal filing cabinet? Coal basket in the bottem drawer, "meat or treat" in the top drawer on rack . Does this sound like something that could be done? If any body has done this, i would like some imput as to how.:noidea:

I'm sure it could be. The concerns I have would be

1. Insulation, the walls and top are far to thin.

2. The paint originally used is not meant to be around fire and could put off some nasty stuff.

3. Are you thinking of just exhausting from the top? What about fresh air vents for the fire?

4. Grease removal is going to be tough...

Please know this is just my opinion and I don't want to bust your bubble, but I'm not sure it would be worth the effort.

Been done and you can find one on youtube. Typically fired by propane or electric element.

Ugly Drawer Smoker...

i took all the drawers out except the bottom one.. they just got in the way..used a couple of grill racks that fit right in and a piece of expanded steel for the shelving...also had a few wooden dowels for the top shelf so i could smoke summer sausage etc etc
