View Full Version : 118 pounds of butts for PP for Church X-mas party.

Somehow I got volunteered to cook 118 pounds of butts for Pulled Pork for the Church Christmas Party for this Saturday night. I did the cooking overnight Wed/Thurs night/morning. Took two rotations in the BDS-Mega, cooking at 250 over Apple. The meat was hit with Big Brother Smoke's Spicy Apple Rub (folks, this is a great pork rub.) I started cooking at 11:30 Wed night and finished late Thursday afternoon. I decided I had done enough by cooking, so when my helpers showed up at 6 pm Thursday I showed them how to pull a butt, and let them do the other 17 butts. Two Missionaries and a Mission Leader showed up, so I sure put them to work. Missionaries will do just about anything for good food... I'll reheat the PP with AJ Saturday before the party. If I get a chance I will take some pics of the event. Enjoy the pics.

that spicy apple rub is excelent! i used some to do butts at my family's applebutter cook this year, it fit the theme, along with lots of applejack!

I feed them every month Larry. Have been since April of '08. I enjoy it, and they talk me up around the Ward and the occasional catering gig comes from that... So I guess I am getting rewarded now and in the hereafter.:thumb:

That Mega BDS sure is a one of a kind beast. Although it was a grueling challenge that must of certainly tired you out, it was for a good cause. I applaud you Bo - great job. :clap2:
