There were 30 teams competing,almost all of them were pro's.


Castelli - Fish 27th
Phubar - Chicken 26th
Niek - Beef 11th
JoEyckmans - Pork 11th
Spiffs - Dessert 15th

We were concentrating on the 29th place,we didn't wanted to end dead last (30th)...we ended 23rd which is very good for us and for a first time.
I think the reason that our chicken and fish didn't end up so well is because it had smokey flavour...I dunno.
We had a blast this weekend,I wanna do this again next year!

If you're driving a herd of cattle and you've got to cook a meal, you're not going to spend 6 hours smoking ribs or 10 hours doing a brisket (of which these guys are supposedly famous) after you've been riding all day. You want to cook and eat as quickly as possible and get some sleep. Likewise, we don't work all day, come home in the evening and then smoke ribs or a brisket for dinner. My wife would kill me if I told her dinner was ready at 3:00am and I'm just plain too tired to do this. I think it's pretty obvious that the "traditional" method is to "simmer" first in order to tenderize things QUICKLY. It's frowned upon now especially on this website, but several Brethren have reached this conclusion or heard stories from old-timers or witnessed their cooking techniques themselves. It was amazing!
15000 visitors, and we had a blast, sure there was some stress now and then, but most of the time we were laughing and having fun!

and the mini egg provided food for the whole team! we were joking that next year we'll only bring our WGA's for the competition

the red egg, is not a big green egg, but a different brand, can't remember the name.

He's the man responsible for the BBQ events in Belgium city centres.
