Smokin my first turkey w/ a smokinator. Forgot to take prep pics bird has been on for about 20 min at this point. Dome temp is steady at 200. Per instructions this low temp is normal to start. Should get up to 230 in 60-90 min.

I am looking forward to how this turns out. I also have a Weber and a Smokenator, and want to get turkey figured out before Thanksgiving. Hope all goes well.

Keep us posted. I've got a 22 1/2" Platinum with the Smokinator that I might just have to fire up!

The bird is 18lbs and the lid just barely fits with the bird on the grill grate. I have the breast down and the neck cavity facing the smokinator.
1st hour I refilled the water pan (using apple juice. ) after hour 2 I will flip the bird. Temp is @ 230

After 4 hrs of smoke I was @ 133. Since I was using mesquite I decided to pull it and throw in the oven. Didn't want to over smoke the bird.
Bird is double wrapped in foil to prevent moisture loss. Oven is @ 350. Internal temp after 1 hour is 139 in the thigh. Kinda confused.
Turned up to 400 and poured Apple juice in foil to help with moisture
