Had to share this, even though it is technically not BBQing. Got this via Facebook share. Originally from the Facebook page of Power Country K93 out of Somerset KY. Someone has to try this out on a smoker:

http://www.thecompanyplayers.com/bacon/turtles.jpg

"Handmade ground beef patties, topped with sharp cheddar cheese, wrapped in a bacon weave, then the next step, add hotdogs as the heads, legs with slits for toes and tail.
Next step. Place on an oven rack, covered loosely with foil and baked for 20-30 minutes at 400 degrees. A little crispy, not too crunchy...just how a turtle should be, no?"

I'm all for it, but I'd probably go with sausage over the hot dogs.
Gonna try to make some later this month for my kids. Wife said they look creepy as all sin, but I bet my boys would LOVE this.

Willcat introduced me to these a while back. Tried them and they are a lot of work.

i remember that video! Was trying to remember where i saw the turtle before.

My son has a turtle that's 15 years old and he also collects turtles. Maybe should do one for his birthday in September.

But my post ended up being a repost of this one:

I still never got around to trying these turtles.

Just one more thing in a long list of "somedays".

Someday I'll get around to this...
