Participated in the Grillkings this past weekend (1st ever comp) and picked up the bbq-brethren flyer that you folks handed out. Got on the site
and can't stop reading (work is starting to suffer!). You guys are a fun group that really knows bbq. Reading old posts, it seems all are treated equally and politely, regardless of degree of expertise. I have been a bbqer for 5yrs. Started w/ an ecb, moved up to a wsm 3yrs ago. Looking forward to meeting you nice people both on the forum and maybe in person. All the best, Eddie p.s. congrats to the Brethren cooking team-you guys really smoked 'em!!

Welcome, brother emo. It's true, even Q idiots like me get humored around here. Some guys here would have honorary Q' PhD's with their knowledge and expertise. This is a great bunch.

Good to have you Eddie! Stick around. I'd be interested to hear about your experience in the competition. You are right, a great bunch of people here I think you will really enjoy it. Pull up a chair and open a cold one when time allows.

Welcome, brother Eddie. You're right most of this group is a hoot. But they have a serious side too, do not joke about beer of talk about boiling you ribs. And above all remember anything and everything was invented in Illinois.

we were set up right next to the judges tent in front of WBAB, big American flag on the pop-up. We did a quick walk around but did not get to speak to many teams except those in our immediate area (Will Breakstone and company were great to cook near...clams casino and corona @ 8:30am!!!) My partner Marty and I had a great day and learned alot, though I have never been so tired in my entire life. My Wife asked me if I would do it again next year, I told her I wish I could do it again tomorrow!.

Yes they are the masters of BBQ. I followed their advice to the tee last weekend, and I avoided the horrible three B's
No "boiling"
"bon fires"
"burning the meat"
All my meat came out great, because I finally followed instructions.
