how long to you cook the scallops so the bacon is done but not the scallops being over done?

that bacon was actually too thick, but all i had. the scallops were a bit overcooked, but they were still awesome tasting. normally i use thin sliced center cut and that seems to crisp up at the right time the scallop is cooked.
