This is a 'mini' reverse flow smoker a customer ordered from our website. Then things got crazy when I agreed to "upsize" it to 8" diameter pipe for parts cost and the increased shipping. Long story short - (too late) this is the monster spawned! More pictures to follow when all the accents and extras are installed.

I'll post the weight when it is shipped.

You would have to be blind to not be able to read the thermometer! How thick is the steel on that smoker. It looks thick!

basically the fire enters the chamber through the baffle which carries the heat to the far end of the chamber and is released to pas over and under the food in a natural convection. The heat radiates from the baffle plate, and circulates evenly. The temps are very even across the chamber and there are reduced possibility of flare ups due to the baffle also acting as a grease pan which is pitched away from the firebox. the exhaust is then on the same side as the firebox.

Its a standard tel tru thermo. The thickness of the chamber is sched 60 which is just over 1/4 inch. Its way heavier than I wanted to use but it turned out to be the only pipe available short of purchasing 25 feet of it.

The chamber is 3/16" thick, the frame is made from bent and welded 5/8" solid steel rod. The baffle and all parts in the main chamber are 1/8" steel and the fenders are 16 ga custom bent and welded.

That mini stick burner is awesome. The wall thickness here looks like 1/2" or greater.

These are meant to be used on a table. The first mini was a working trailer with crank up third leg. The second & third were patio style and this one due to it's weight had the wheels welded stationary. I wouldn't want to have this roll off a table and hurt anyone. My first nearly dud that a few times and only 68 lbs.

From cooking on my much smaller one I'd say a small butt or half chicken. Definately ribs as I cooked a rack of babybacks in comp on mine. The grates combined are 7.75" x 18" stainless steel.

Kevin who happens to be a member here on the forums just called me to say he saw his mini on here and loves it! He should be receiving it very shortly and hopefully chime in soon and when he gets it - post some pron.

also some corrections

Kevin is from MA but works in CT (oops)

I forgot to get a picture of how it looked all wrapped up as even that was pretty amazing in a ridiculous way. lol.

I noticed I didn't post the pics of the grates.

Yes I am the lucky recipient!! It looks great Brian, thanks for all your hard work and attention to detail. Can't wait till it arrives. I will post some pics when I cook on it.

One of my buddies slipped and told my wife that I ordered this, she immediately started in on me saying "how could you possibly need another BBQ you have 12 of them!!". So I had Brian put number thirteen on the grates - just to taunt her a little...

So that is what that meant. We were all guessing here and none of us had that one.

You'll have to give a try to cooking bacon and eggs on the baffle plate like using a griddle. Another member here Smokin_D has a mini reverse flow from a builder in ME and he had told me before about doing that.

Now I want one!

oh, and a neat little bit of info about this build, the chamber is actually a reclaimed piece from another metal shop build. They had build fireworks mortar launch tubes for a company nearby and they had made one too many. This was in their shop at least 10 years. I had wanted to do something fireworks related on the build but opted not to in favor of putting more into the details.

Thanks for the opportunity to do this build Kevin. See you in a few weeks!

I just got word from Kevin the mini was badly damaged by UPS in shipping. This is actually the second time it was smashed. the first time it was just a fender and grates came back to be repaired. This time it seems to have been handled like the name UPS (pronounced OOPS) implies.

I am so frustrated right now. I was on hold for over 35 min to file a claim. This thing was bullet proof. I dropped it once at the shop while getting it ready for paint and didn't hurt it at all. I packaged it in about 5 lbs of shrink wrap, Styrofoam, zip ties, card board and even marked out where it was safe to handle it from. This thing was dropped, rolled and abused. I am truly at a loss for words with the abuse this thing has seen.

Well that sux to hear what UPS did to that great mini! It looks like it's built like a tank so it's hard to believe what they could have done to damage it. Forklift maybe?

Guess next time it will have to be hand delivered. Hate to hear that about UPS and the damage to all the work you did! Hope you can get it all worked out.
