Have you tried a little bit of heat from a torch or something? It is probably dried honey stuck in there.

heat and a pair of vice grips... I think they actuall make a wrench to pull them out... but if your just gonna scrap it I say if all else fails a chissle and a hammer... OOOOOrrrr just drill the 8 holes in the lid like a lot of the UDS fellas

Use old screwdriver or Chisel and beat it in a CCW direction.

what are you using to try to get it out?

Try a vise grip and a 12" crescent wrench, or 2 Crescent wrenches. Vise grip or the extra crescent straight down onto cross piece on the "bung". Use the crescent to turn the 1st wrench (as close to the bung as you can). Make sure you've got 1 hand doing the turning and one hand holding the other wrench steady.

Way back when I was a younger man I owned a paint factory. We used all kinda of drums. I used to use a good sized open end wrench with the biggest cheater bar I could find. And the heat is a good idea also.

Put the open part of the wrench into the bung where you can get a good bite then add the bar and grunt like a pig. That's important cause you are probably goin to cook pig in this thingy.

Lots of luck.

take 2 large screwdrivers make an x with one point on each side of tab, turn counterclockwise against each other, the honey probably dried like glue, a little heat wouldn't hurt, goodluck

Honey is water soluble. I would soak the lid in water and i bet that bung would twist off with ease. (if honey is the issue)

Spray your bung hole with penetrating oil, then let willcat98 work on it for a while.
