Hey brethren wanted your thoughts on this grill posted on craigslist. Is $100 a fair price? I want to pick it up this week but wondering if I should offer less??

What little bit I know, I would call it a great deal. It doesn't hurt to haggle but I wouldn't let that go.

Thanks, thats what I was thinking. I'm not sure my wife is going to be happy about my new hobby of collecting grills.

If I didnt have a performer, I'd hit that. See if the guys would do $80 but to be honest, the cover, the tools and even the chimney all seem to be in good condition. Get that sucker!

People are beginning to get a clue what the quality Webers are worth. IMO the Stainless Touch n' Go Performer (pictured in the cl post) is one of the best made. I got mine a few years ago for $40, and I've seen them sell for as much as $200 around here.
Hell yes haggle, but be the first to show up with cash in your hand, and know what your looking for. If the tank is empty, bring your own and test the igniter, a lot of the older Performers have the Quick release valves on non OPD tanks, if they have the refill valve-cool if not your gonna have to replace the tank and add an Acme fitting (@$50++) The chimney new is $15, chuck the utensils!, it has a full fitted cover and heavy duty char baskets.
If I was looking for one and it was something I'd been coveting-$100 isn't a bad deal.

They collect shoes don't they? I trip over my OL's all the time!

Thanks swamp. I didn't even think to test out the ignitor or check for the right valve fitting. Good to know!! As for the wife I think it may be better to ask for forgiveness then to ask for permission. :)

Dude, that's one heck of a nice grill. The Weber Silver I have (the basic 22" kettle) goes for $180 new. This one has a lot more bells and whistles. I don't see how you could go wrong at $100.

That is a great price... I got mine without accessories for $80. It is a 1998... he wanted $150, and I told him the age of the grill, and offered him $80. he snapped it up. Print out this table at the virtual bullet website to determine the age of the Weber when you got to look at it:

Get it. You can't buy stainless steel performers anymore. They're "collectors" now for those us who like to cook on quality equipment. I got mine for $50 but it was pretty beat up. I gave it a little TLC and it's good as new now. I'll never part with it.

Here's the post to my refurb:

Tell your wife you paid for the accessories (bbq tools, charcoal starter, cover, lp tank) and they threw in the grill.
Looks like a brand new grill.

That's definitely a good score! As said before, haggle, but end up with it.

It's a great deal. Check out the price of a new one for comparison. This time of year you are hard pressed to find a bargain. Wait until around Memorial Day when some folks buy new grills.

Well I picked this baby up tonight and it's safely in my back yard. It was too dark to get pics so I will post some tomorrow. Can't wait to fire this bad boy up this weekend.
