I wanna try the rub i used on my salmon for my next chicken cook. But im curious to how well the flavor of brownsugar and thyme tastes with chicken?
Any way use a rub for chicken that has brown sugar in it?

If you are grilling you really need to be careful due to burning caused due to the brown sugar.

You can google dry rub receipes and also use the search engine here on the brethren. Both will give you numerous topics to read through.
Personaly, I've never used brown suger or tyme on my chicken.

Don't be chicken to take the thyme to do a search on the forum and I think you'll get some sweet results.

what I found out is a basic rub that I make and use for everything has some brown and turbinado sugar in it, then when I use it for chicken I then add LOTS of garlic, rosemary and tyme or use a generic poultry seasoning which has a blend of that..My rib rub has alot more sugar in it, the other day I used that on my chicken and I did not like it, it was toooo sweet. My opinion is to leave the extra sugar for the pork..

ok cool. i just have never used brown sugar or sugar on chicken so i wasnt sure.

Herbed Barbecue Chicken Rub
Ingredients:
1/4 C. Turbinado (raw or dry brown) sugar
2 tbsp. paprika
2 tbsp. kosher salt
1 tbsp. onion powder
1/2 tbsp. garlic powder
1/2 tbsp. chili powder
2 tsp. lemon pepper
2 tsp. dry rubbed sage
1 ½ tsp. dry basil
½ tsp. dry rosemary
½ tsp dry thyme crushed
1/2 tsp. cayenne
Instructions: Combine in a bowl or shake together in a jar. Rub into chicken and let stand. Cook however you like.

thanx. I just read like 20 threads on here about chicken rubs. lol. i saw one i posted way back last year. haha. im gonna try 3 diff rubs on the chicken. im cookin like 24 pieces so i think 8 pieces with a diff rub would be cool.
