Was this something we were supposed to learn from our Mom's?
I can't believe it's been there all this time.

I had to go into the kitchen and check this out for myself.
Whoever looks at the end of your aluminum foil box?
You know when you try to pull some foil out and the roll comes out of the box.
Then you have to put the roll back in the box and start over.
Well, I would like to share this with you.
Yesterday I went to throw out an empty Reynolds foil box and for some reason I turned it,
and looked at the end of the box. And written on the end it said, Press here to lock end.
Right there on the end of the box is a tab to lock the roll in place.
How long has this little locking tab been there?
I then looked at a generic brand of aluminum foil and it had one, too.
I then looked at a box of Saran wrap and it had one too!
I can't count the number of times the Saran wrap roll has jumped out,
when I was trying to cover something up.
I'm sharing this with my friends.
I hope I'm not the only person that didn't know about this.

Craziest thing...I never knew that until i saw a similar post a few years ago. Guess what...I forgot about it until now, so I still haven't tried it. I hate it when that roll pops out. Dang thing should come that way, it's not me-proof.

That is a great tip! I had the roll of foil jump out of the box this weekend while I was trying to do ten things at once...which is when it always happens...but no more. Thanks.

My mom taught me that when I was a kid. Most times, I don't use it, because I like to live dangerously :)

Wierd... I honestly thought everyone knew it was there...

even with it in place I hate using that style of alum foil, I buy the large costco roll and it actually has plastic rollers on each end that the roll rides on... WAY BETTER!!

Add me to the list of those who had no idea. I'll need to try that next time I have a roll in front of me. I've been using precut 12" sheets. Pretty handy and the box seems to last forever. I get them at Sam's (http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/navigate.do?dest=5&item=396575)but I am sure Costco carries something simialr.

Even though I have known it was there since I was kid. I never use it. I always make sure the roll is coming off the top and not from underneath.

I really like it when the end gets crimped just a little from coming out of the box and banging the counter. Then ever time you try pull some off, it starts to rip.

Happens every time I forget about the tab, which is just often enough for me to be frustrated about crimped foil ends.

Is the Costco foil as thick as the Reynolds heavy duty? I have been wanting to try some but was afraid it was the going to be the thin junk...

Took the missus to Micro Center in Rockville a week or so ago on a sunday, and we got there about 15 min before it opened. Across the hall was one of those Dollar Stores, so we went in. I came out, $16.00 later with 2 bags of stuff: yellow mustard, kethups, apple juice, a great funnel set, etc. All a buck each. I bought 4 rolls of foil, 25 ft each, 2 were Reynolds wrap and 2 were an off brand that are especially wide. Used the foil twice now, with great results.

OK, you made me go look. Yup, the tabs are there. I'm 62 and it took the Brethren to educate me. I always try to learn something new every day. Well, I got mine for the day. Now, I have to educate my lady friend. Will she ever be impressed. :thumb:

Oh wait. Never mind.
