Somewhat recently got a primo XL to allow me to Q more during the winter. I had a couple butts that I did overnight on Friday at 225. I lit the grill about 9:00pm and had them going until about 11:00am Saturday morning.

My wife had some chickens she wanted cooked later. Actually, they didn't go on until nearly 5:00pm.

These were done indirect at about 375*

And finished direct on higher heat with some eggplant:

All, in all, the primo was smoking for over 21 hours on one load of lump AND I could still light that up and cook more without adding to it. You can see in the last picture there's plenty of lump left. It only dropped down into the low 30s Friday night and think it was in the low 50s Saturday, but I couldn't dream of doing this on my offset!

While I've been Q'ing regularly, this is really the first opportunity to use my Maverick ET-7 that I got for Christmas. While it saved me many trips outside, I was a bit disappointed in the range. If I was more than about 10-15' from the receiver I'd lose signal. Next time I'll try some fresher batteries.

Oh yeah baby! I'll be ready next time pot pies are called! This is just a bit of practice. Love grilled eggplant, especially with lots of evoo.

Thanks for the info! Right now I had it on the windowsill overlooking the Primo. Not the best solution, but much better than running outside. I'm hoping a new set of batteries will help. I'm not looking for much more range.

Make sure you get the seeds out (they are bitter). I love making Baba Ghanoush from grilled eggplant. Actually, it's technically not a true Baba Ghanoush that I make, but more of a Mutabal. OK, It's hummus but with Eggplant instead of Chickpeas, and heavy on the Tahini. Now you know and you didn't even ask.
