What say you? To use or not? And where is the best source for them?

Time's yours...

Use if you need to cook a lot of racks. Weber makes a nice one.

I bought a cooker big enough to do all the racks at the same time that I'll need for myself, my family, and friends for a decent little cookout. I cooked ribs and brisket on my WSM 22" for 8 people and had leftovers.

If you need the racks, I've seen people use those roasing racks (the a-frame looking ones) flipped upside down.

Space is an issue in our 18.5 WSMs, so we use the Raichlen rib racks that VQ found at Bed, Bath and Beyond. They're tall enough to keep trimmed spares nicely upright.

I use racks when I need to get more than two racks onto my 22.5 kettle. Mine look like cheap record racks that have lost most of the rods. Have no clue where I got them.

That's what I use, it gives you spaces for 6 racks of ribs plus one leaning against each end = 8 .

I turn the "roast holder" from my regular oven roasting pan upside down when making ribs on my OTG and it works well.

I have a rack that I inherited from my father that he bought from Weber, I agree you don't have much space on a 22.5 kettle so a rack is a must. This works great! When I'm done i just toss it in the dishwasher...

Writing note to self to check these out next time at IKEA. Hell of a deal. Do they clean up well and easy, like in the dishwasher? Thx Phub!

Saw a pic Pork Smoker posted on one of my threads and he rolled the rack up and skewerd them with wooden skewers then set them on their shoulder side down on the grate. He looked to be smoking on a18.5 Web. and they looked dand good too.

What about that rotiserie thing in the UDS?
Weber makes racks also...like $15.00, new.
I want to invest in something soon.
I was thinking about that rotiserie thing....but then, all I can cook is ribs, i think.
What is this A-Frame roast holder? any pics?

I use racks I picked up at Kroger half price at the end of season close out.
They really help in a vertical smoker like a Stumps SW223 shown here. You have to keep the air flow constant to have the bottom and top come out equal.

I am a big fan of these racks as well. They are a pain to clean, but I just started throwing them in the dishwasher on the pots and pans cycle. Gets them clean enough!

I like these - the racks slide in and out of the base of the rack making it easy to fit in the dishwasher without taking up too much space...

My wife said my old rib rack that came with my old BSKD was hard to clean also. She said, "I wish you wouldn't use this rib rack anymore"! I said, "no problem honey, I won't". I ordered my Lang 60 Patio the next day. It will hold about 15 slabs without a rack. When the Lang arrived I told the wife, "careful what you wish for"! :icon_devil

i just stand the ribs on their sides (kind of like they were in a rack) and run 3 or 4 skewers thru them.

What are you cooking on. I use a 33" Weber kettle and buy my ribs in a cryovac 3 pack. It makes for a challenge. I'm using the weber rib rack which you can't see here

I've got a cabinet smoker with metal drawer. I could lay 8 racks of babybacks down on the drawers, but I'm afraid that would limit the smoke that hits the racks on top. Do I need to be using rib racks and smoke them on edge to promote better smoking?
