My Christmas Miracle

This summer a friend in town said her brother had a BGE that he hardly used and might sell. I asked her to talk to him about it. She called back and said that it was ruined in a windstorm earlier in the year - that a large branch had "crushed" it.

A month or so later she told me that it wasn't ruined, that the branch only broke the shelf. He wasn't sure if he wanted to sell it or not, though.

Tonight, she invited us over for dinner. Her brother was there. I asked him if he wanted to sell it. He said to make him an offer. I said, tell me more about it. He told me it is in good condition, except for the bent side shelf. He then asked what one sold for these days...that they were over a thousand a few years ago. I told him that they were less expensive now and that since I was not the original owner, I would not have the lifetime warranty that was worth so much.

He thought a minute and said, "Well, it was given to me - so I'll sell it to you for....

$70 - delivered, including tools and some lump.

Yeah, I don't have it my possession, yet - but he made the deal with me in front of his parents and sister. He'll have to deliver it or face the consequences from them - and the mom is pretty fierce and will make sure he delivers. I'll have pictures next week (Lord willing).
