More progress on the big ol smoker. The grate is in the firebox (no pic) it is positioned 4 inches from the bottom of the box so I think I will have plenty of space for airflow. If not I can flip them and gain another inch.

The frames for the racks are done and the expanded metal will go on in the morning. I will have to borrow a trailer to get it to the shop. After I get the rest of the paint off the interior I am firing this sucker up after a good rub down of lard. I feel like Christmas is here.

Now check out my racks all 5 of them. They measure approx 40X18 that is almost 3600 square inches of cooking space. I figure I could smoke a couple of medium size kids in this thing.:lol:

As it stands, tomorrow evening should be spent grinding, wire brushing and painting. If this sucker doesnt purr like a kitten I will always think it should have. This is my first run at putting together anything like this. I am hoping all of the reading I have done here and other places pays off.

Because you linked the pic from here:

AND you attached the pic in "Manage Attachments."

You only need to one or the other not both.

Brought it back to the shop where I am working and fired her up. I need to do some serious work on the firebox door! Once I got the firebox sealed, dont ask me how, things seemed to level off somewhat. I think not including the firebox door, I need to make a frame for the fire box. much like I have for my offset. It is gonna take a few burns to dial her in but I really think I will have a machine once I figure out the personality of this thing. I am co9ncerned about how much the wind is going to effect this smoker. I amy play with plugging on of the exhaust outlets. Yes I will post pics in a few days. She wants a fresh paint job before her debut!
