Being a newbie, this may be a stupid question, but has anyone ever used a stoker or guru with a UDS? Was thinking of putting 2 on a cart and controlling both with one of the two.

Thanks guys. one more question, can I get by with a single 2" ball valve intake as I've seen on larger smokers rather than the 3 of the 3/4"?

There was a guy posting a few weeks ago about a guru on a uds. He couldn't get the temps down. You don't need one on a uds.

True! But, then again, you don't "need" a Guru on anything . Lots of folks have them on everything from leaky-squeaky BSKDs, up through Stumps and Backwoods, all the way to the airtight BGEs and UDSs. It's all about ease of use, steady temps, not having to mind the pit that much or often.

Or sometimes it's all about being lazy .

I have one on one of my WSMs .

I've never had any temp problems with my Drums so I don't see the need for the Guru on them- I use it on the BGE and WSM as a matter of convenience.

But I was checking out this setup and the guy was very happy with it, so I ain't knockin' it!

I know Old Dawg uses a Stoker to control a BGE and a couple drums at comps, maybe he'll chime in on it?
