Hey guys and girls, just got my approval, so I wanted to say hello to everyone. I'm not new to BBQ, but new to competition BBQ and we just did our first event in Libertyville, IL. It was the Barn Burner at Lambs Farm, and we showed up late and unprepared. Really the only thing we had going for us was the awesome smoker my friend and teammate bought ( Peoria Custom Cookers Meat Monster)... no tent, no chairs, no heater etc lol! Anyway, we were set up right by Stockcar BBQ, and Jeff (I think he goes by Divemaster here) came over and introduced himself and said if we have any questions or need help to just let him know. I did have a few questions for him, and he was very friendly and helpful. What impressed me the most though was that here we are at a competition where most people are pretty tight lipped about rubs and sauces and technique etc, and Jeff was just the opposite. Pretty cool. Anyway, he told me about the Brethren, and that you guys are all very cool and helpful, and I figured that it sounded like a good place to get my learn on. Look forward to meeting more of you in future events!

Welcome to the asylum! I'm sorry that we didn't get to meet at Lamb's Farm (unless we did and I forgot  )

I am out in Batavia! Not too far away.

Hey Chris! Glad you made it!

Sorry that pretty new cooker had to get all smoky and all... lol Wish you had stopped by Friday night so we could have gotten to know you better (plus we had heat!)...

You'll find that there are a bunch of us ILFO's (Illinois Folks) here. Heck, I'm just a bit north of you in Morton Grove...

Just a couple of things to remember here...

No Pictures, it didn't happen (this can work in your favor if you know what I mean), and don't be afraid to ask questions. There are roughly 10,000 of us out here and you are sure to get an answer, it may not be the right answer, but you'll get one... LOL

Again, welcome.

Jeff,

Didnt you mean to qualify this with "... right answer, unless of course Willkat answers, but you'll..."

Doesn't that sound better?

Hey Jeff. Yeah, I would have loved to stop by friday night, but I had to run home and get some things we forgot, like my girlfriend. Next time

Welcome from another IL cooker. I am in Bartlett and my team is Bartlett Boneheads. I do not believe we met at Libertville but not sure. Maybe we can meet at a comp next year.

I hope so for sure! I'm sure there will be at least a few of us meeting over the winter just to hang out. I BBQ year round (lowest actual temp doing bbq was negative 10), so you're welcome to come over whenever we're smokin'!

I will gather up 40 of my friends and come over for BBQ. I am sure DiveMaster can do the same. Maybe Ron, Bill, Scottie and others I missed. I would guess that we could come up with 400 to 500 folks. What time shall we be at your place?
