Going to store and they have boneless chuck roast 2.28lb, boneless beef chuck steak 2.48lb and tri tip at 2.88lb. My question is given those choices which would you go for the price really not a factor just want the best cut.

I did a tri tip last Monday after being marinated all night and it was great but have not done any chuck in a long time.

Since tri-tip is one of my favorites, I'd go with the tri-tip.:icon_blush:
Makes a fine BBQ.

If I had recently had tri-tip, I would go chuck.

I would say Tri-Tip at that price as well. We are not getting anything close to that here for Tri-Tip...

Good move Dave,

When I find a sale like that, the freezer gets loaded up!

Tri-tip or chuck? That's like asking pork butt or pork chop? They have two different uses, in my opinion.

Chucks, for me, for on the smoker. Tri-tips always get a hot grill treatment. If price is not objective then you've got to decide what the finished meal is going to be and pick the appropriate cut of meat for that meal.

Well thats one reason I bought all three cuts. The tri tip I will do next weekend and the roast and steak can be handled by my wife during the week, for whatever she wants to do with them. I work nights and she is not into using the smokers.
